My Passion

As a young girl I dreamed of being on Broadway.

I planned to move to New York with a girlfriend in my early 20's.

{I got a communications degree and became a high school English teacher instead.}

I met an amazing stage director and musician and fell head over heels.

He asked me to marry him on our second date. I was 26.

We had beautiful babies. Lots and lots of beautiful babies.

My  girlfriend asked me, "What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?"

Capture beauty through my lens.

Life is precious. I'm only guarenteed this moment. And I'd rather fail at something I LOVE than succeed at something I could take or leave. Life in a nutshell.

I know who I am. I know whose I am. And His plans for me are far greater than I could ask or imagine.

I. love. life.

Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to visit my former blog "through the lens.

Guest. Signature. Books.

connelly-21

If this is your first time hearing about the Guest Signature Book, you’ll be excited.  The  GSB is a custom designed, hard cover, archival quality coffee table book created with extra space on the spreads where guests can sign on the wedding day! “Get-to-Know-You” session photos tell the story of your romance. At the wedding reception guests pass around the Sharpie to leave you some love, and the oohs and ahhs are generous. Much, much better  than those little 4×6 white books that get lost in the bottom of a Rubbermaid box, never to be enjoyed, wouldn’t you say?
connelly-22

I LOVE doing these “get-to-know-you” sessions, because they give me an opportunity to begin a real friendship with my clients before the wedding day.

That makes wedding day shooting even more fun.

{The session is included in most of my wedding coverage packages . . .  I highly recommend it!}

Lisa. Stephen. {Sneak Peak}

connelly-16

I’ve been so excited about this wedding all week for lots of reasons.

First of all, Lisa and Steve are so in love with each other and their daughter, Ellie . . .

it was pure joy to share in their wedding day.

I’ve gotten to know Lisa and Steve over the last six months, beginning with our first meeting in my studio in Reisterstown.

Several weeks later we shared a morning together (our “get-to-know-you” session) at Olive Garden, where Lisa and Steve met and fell head over heels.

Lisa and Steve are building a home together just over the hill from me. They’ll be building next to Steve’s boyhood home . . . also the location of their elegant backyard reception.

One of the other things I LOVED about their wedding was that they kept it local.

Starry Night Bakery, Dutterer’s Florist, The Spa at Roop’s Mill, Harry’s Main Street Grille, and  Frank Young, DJ

All from Westminster. ALL really fine pros.

Tim Hinsche shot this wedding with me, and we both agreed . . . great wedding, great couple.

connelly-1

Shannon Kraus at The Spa at Roop’s Mill did such a beautiful job on hair and makeup and kept those girls smiling.

connelly-2

Lisa and Steve’s daughter Ellie was a little tentative at first, but then really warmed to the thought of “princess for a day.”

connelly-3

Mary Couture. Need I say more?

The ceremony was at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Taneytown . . . the one with all the bulldozers in front.

Everyone had a great attitude though, and it was really no big deal.

A photographic trick? A “mirror” application? Naw. That’s Michael, Steve’s twin . . . these guys were super fun together.

One of Steve’s family traditions includes wearing “Groucho Marx’s” to special events.

It’s been happening for decades. How much fun is that?

welcome. to. my. {new}.blog.

It’s fresh. It’s new. And I LOVE it! I’ve had so much fun designing the new blog and will continue to tweak as the weeks go on.

Nice, huh? This is Lisa.

{And the image is straight out of the camera . . . gorgeous bride}

new blog-1

And this one is just straight out of the camera. Okay, so it was a five minute blog post . . .

but you get the picture. The Big Picture.

If you’re feeling nostalgic for my former blog, “through the lens,” it still floating out there.

Sixteen. Candles.

kathyfreundel-1

Dan’s sixteenth birthday is this week, and we wanted to surprise him good.

It’s become kind of a tradition in our family.

{recall Rachel’s Sweet Sixteen?}

So my sis, my friend ,Shirley, and I put our heads together to get creative.

That plan involved a piggie hit ‘n run and a ride in the police car.

We scrapped it and opted to call in the big guns . . . the Baughers.

Kay and her man, Ted drove the Baugher tractor over the fields and picked up our posse at the front door.

kathyfreundel-2

We drove to the orchard where Dan works . . .banging pots and pans and calling him out!

For a bit, we thought he’d run out the back door, but realized he was just “clocking out.”

kathyfreundel-1-2

It’s all fun and games ’til someone gets a pot on the head.

kathyfreundel-3

It was a perfect night for a late summer backyard party.

kathyfreundel-5

My sis, Miss Queen of Fun, organized the ice breaker games.

{Her Young Life leadership skills were in full tilt}

kathyfreundel-4

Here’s her game board for ice breaker #1. You can steal it.

You should also steal her potato salad recipe because it KICKS.

kathyfreundel-6

kathyfreundel-11

My neice Katie {home from James Madison U!} lead this crazy game.

I don’t even know how to explain it, but it involved pirate-ish commands.

kathyfreundel-12

Still the same game.

kathyfreundel-13

Still.

kathyfreundel-14

Still.

kathyfreundel-18

And then Kaila led the dance party. Disco, that is.

kathyfreundel-17

kathyfreundel-16

And my Mom and Dad brought the cake. Check it out! The computer keyboard is made of gum and TicTacs!

The day was so much fun. We pulled the entire party together  in one afternoon.

Dropped Dan off at work after church and then went into high gear.

I loved watching our other kids so excited on Dan’s behalf, and we even had fun cleaning up late last night and reliving the events of the day.

I’m tired, but so happy. Dan has grown into such a great guy.

He’s funny. He’s smart.

And he sneaks into our bedroom after the house is quiet to chat or to watch episodes of The Office with me and Carl.

happy. life.
