My Passion

As a young girl I dreamed of being on Broadway.

I planned to move to New York with a girlfriend in my early 20's.

{I got a communications degree and became a high school English teacher instead.}

I met an amazing stage director and musician and fell head over heels.

He asked me to marry him on our second date. I was 26.

We had beautiful babies. Lots and lots of beautiful babies.

My  girlfriend asked me, "What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?"

Capture beauty through my lens.

Life is precious. I'm only guarenteed this moment. And I'd rather fail at something I LOVE than succeed at something I could take or leave. Life in a nutshell.

I know who I am. I know whose I am. And His plans for me are far greater than I could ask or imagine.

I. love. life.

Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to visit my former blog "through the lens.

Nace. Raven’s Stadium Events.

Whip Cheesy is his name. Workin’ the crowd is his game. I was initially grateful to hide behind my lens . . . not wanting to be called up on stage to play “Meal or No Meal,” or NACE Feud, but after the first game, I was ready to make a run for the stage to play. Seriously. Dave Ricklin of The Original Game Show Live hosted NACE’s meeting at in the Raven’s locker room and Club House last night and I laughed the whole night!

And the party begins . . .  Wedding Designer, Victoria Clausen of Romance of Flowers, and Raven’s makeup artist, Jamie Leboe are jerseyed up and ready to go!

Designer Stephanie Bradshaw of Bradshaw Interiors played Vanna for Whip Cheesy in her usual exquisite style . . .  {Here’s my “fight the February blah’s” tip . . . subscribe to Stephanie’s “The Girl About Town” newsletter on her website. . . it’s like a box a Godiva arriving in the inbox each month . . . Steph sent out retro paper dolls for her Christmas card this year . . . custom designed by Baltimore’s edgiest graphic designer, Carla David! }

Cate Buscher of Plan it Perfect Events won big last night . . . charades was her game.

I spent much of the night thinking . . . wow, this would be such a fun rehearsal dinner activity or bachelor/ bachelorette party activity. Dave Ricklin is such a personality on stage . . . but the best part of Dave is that he’s safe. Everyone was a winner, even when he wasn’t really a winner. Know what I mean? And THAT’S the gift of encouragement and the big heart that Dave wears on his bright yellow jacket:)

I caught up with event planner Anne Berman and Chef’s Expression’s Jerry Edwards in the Raven’s Locker Room. Jerry is excited about hosting wine tours through California this winter. He takes his clients on a vineyard tour . . . how’s that for a good way to escape the Baltimore winter for a shot in the arm?  Jerry is also still hosting his exquisite meals and wine tastings  at Gramercy Mansion . . . your turn to plan date night? check out Jerry’s website for details.

One of many things I love about NACE is her big heart. Last night’s NACE chapter meeting was a benefit for  Art with a Heart, Inc. which  brings the joy and benefit of visual art to those who need it most by providing interactive,hands-on art activities to disadvantaged families and children, and to people with developmental and physical challenges.

Snow. Day 2.

We will be living with the snow for quite awhile, as the temps are supposed to stay below freezing all week. We’re expecting another big dump of snow tomorrow . . . so, why not make some memories??? Today, it was snow tunnels and igloo building.

And for some not so strange reason, the kids want to be wherever their Dad  is . . . he can make any situation a blast, all by his attitude. I think that’s part of the reason why I fell for him all those years ago . . . wherever he was, it was a party.

Snow Day.

meg-2

I love when our lives shut down for a big snow. It’s like  bonus days of catch-up/ snuggle days smack in the middle of winter. A little bit of productive . . . a whole lot of chillin’.

So, I think we got about 30″ this time. After digging out yesterday . . . yes, I’m a little sore across the shoulders today . . . we’re all set to be hunkered down. Finished research papers on T.S. Eliot and John Steinbeck. Now we’re onto melting popsicles for the science fair. Played Apples to Apples . . .watched a couple of movies . . . .alphabetized my spice cupboard . . . finished a book . . . oh, yea, and marinating some wings for the Superbowl tonight. And did I mention that this family can eat??? A huge pot of vegetable soup . . . double batch of noodles and marinara . . . gone. :)

And just look at the fun Micheal’s having in snow way over his head . . .

Sam knows he’s beat, so it’s a completely different attitude.

It’s all in the outlook. Hope you’re making the most of it!meg-4

Happy Snow Days!
