My Passion

As a young girl I dreamed of being on Broadway.

I planned to move to New York with a girlfriend in my early 20's.

{I got a communications degree and became a high school English teacher instead.}

I met an amazing stage director and musician and fell head over heels.

He asked me to marry him on our second date. I was 26.

We had beautiful babies. Lots and lots of beautiful babies.

My  girlfriend asked me, "What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?"

Capture beauty through my lens.

Life is precious. I'm only guarenteed this moment. And I'd rather fail at something I LOVE than succeed at something I could take or leave. Life in a nutshell.

I know who I am. I know whose I am. And His plans for me are far greater than I could ask or imagine.

I. love. life.

Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to visit my former blog "through the lens.

They journeyed the growing years sharing their group of friends in Carroll County, Maryland. Liberty University provided a large canvas on which to dream bold strokes of love and hope. The...

Helping. Up.

It’s my home away from home these days . . . the place where I feel the presence of God every time.  Helping Up Mission. I’ll admit it. . . .I try to drag every warm willing body to see what I consider “my quirky gal Bmore’s best kept secret.” I was over the moon...

Sweet Caroline.

My Caroline Joy. She’s ten and straddling the divide between girl and pre adolescent. So, yeah, I’ll admit it . . . I’m feeding the girl part, while taking the opportunity to speak about the art of being a true blue girlfriend. Caroline’s got a good bunch surrounding her, like I’ve got a good bunch...

Murphy. Jesse. Karen.

He said, “All I want for Christmas is a photo of my girl and my dogs.” And she, being full of spark, full of life and full of firecracker, feigned frustration, tersely quipping that he was putting undo pressure on her only a month before Christmas to pull off the impossible. How rude. How selfish....

Erin + Tyler. Gramercy Mansion Wedding.

Every detail was fully realized at their mid autumn sunset wedding on the grounds of historic Gramercy Mansion. Erin and Tyler planned a vintage wedding . . . 40′s retro with a funky twist. The one detail they couldn’t control was the light.   So, Erin called  me in to flesh out a bit of...

Elizabeth.

Blissful Liz. She’s my dream client. She loves photography, and had walked her gorgeous farmland to scope out spots for us well in advance of our scheduled session.  So for this one, dear reader, Elizabeth shares in the outcome. Icing on the cake for me?? When I walked into her home, her mom came...

Lauren + Robert. Overhills Mansion Wedding.

Facebook. It conjures kisses and disses, but for Lauren and Robert the kisses have it. Decades after first love at 15, they reunited and reignited.  No letting it slide this time,  despite the inconvenience of those long states that separated them. They revisited their old haunts, recreated their first dates and knew very quickly. The...

Oh, did I fail to mention??

Steph.

Steph is my girl. Remember the Faces of Speights post from months ago? {it’s in actor’s headshots if you missed it} . . . well, Steph was the one standing at my back when it all went down, laughing just as hard as I.  That’s how Steph rolls . . . she’s a party waiting...

Allie Girl.

For years I’ve heard about Allie . . .from my own daughters who see her light, her easy smile, her comfort in her own skin. Allie’s the kinda girl I want my girls to be watching. Bottled light. A formidable hockey player. Sunny and strong. Allie girl.
