My Passion

As a young girl I dreamed of being on Broadway.

I planned to move to New York with a girlfriend in my early 20's.

{I got a communications degree and became a high school English teacher instead.}

I met an amazing stage director and musician and fell head over heels.

He asked me to marry him on our second date. I was 26.

We had beautiful babies. Lots and lots of beautiful babies.

My  girlfriend asked me, "What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?"

Capture beauty through my lens.

Life is precious. I'm only guarenteed this moment. And I'd rather fail at something I LOVE than succeed at something I could take or leave. Life in a nutshell.

I know who I am. I know whose I am. And His plans for me are far greater than I could ask or imagine.

I. love. life.

Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to visit my former blog "through the lens.

Mr. Hopkins allowed us the run of the land . . . the farm, the woods, the buildings . . . After canceling our late summer Fenwick Island E-session because of a Labor Day Hurricane I was eager to give Kristina and Evan their heart’s desire. We hit the most beautiful autumn day and...

Nancy + Carl. Antrim 1844.

Antrim 1844. He wooed her over long six course dinners and moonlit walks through the immaculate gardens to the gazebo under the stars. He wooed her with his words, his romance, and his ability to hear her heart of hearts. Carl got his girl, and he and Nancy share the easy flow that people...

Ashley + Andrew. Union Mills Homestead E-Session.

She went out on a limb and said yes to the invitation. Her classmate at Stevenson University was hosting a bible study and she was feeling the draw. First meeting, there he sat. Smiling, open and utterly charming, and she knew right away. He was gonna be hers. Five months later the deal was sealed,...

Megan + Adam. National Harbor Wedding.

Adam shifted his weight from leg to leg as he waited for Megan to descend the lobby staircase of uber modern Aloft Washington National Harbor. I knew it would be an intense moment, for I enjoyed a big taste of Megan and Adam and their intimate bond earlier this spring when we spent an afternoon traveling...

Risa + Patrick. Kentlands Mansion Wedding.

They’ve got resolve. And they don’t  mess around. It presented in their determination to let go of everything unimportant and immerse in the real. For Risa,  that meant  reading her heartfelt vows to Patrick  in husky whisper, as the guests strained to catch snippets of getting lost in the desert and waking with a long...

Urban Chic Revolution. American Visionary Arts Museum.

You cannot make a revolution with silk gloves, but you can sure start some talkin’ with a body painted raffle gal. That’s my Stalin: Freundelian mash up of pith. Urban Chic’s  Revolution, the American Visionary Arts Museum benefit of 2011 made a dent. In this case, the only thing more powerful than two sisters...

Pejman. Shannon. Annapolis. Bliss.

ROI. Return on Investment. He understands it completely. Yeah, he’s a rock star commodities broker, but that’s not it. A couple of boyhood friends, well chosen. A cadre of family and friends, with serious history. A wife, well loved who loves well. Parents, honored for the sacrifices they’ve made to preserve two cultures. Pejman’s 40th...

Dory + Ed. Gold.

Pale baby blues that made his heart stop. Confident athlete’s swagger that made her heart start. Townie falls for  Jersey girl. Blind date. Western Maryland College. Late 50′s. I wish I had a snapshot of the first time he laid eyes on her. I don’t. But I do have a snapshot this day. After fifty...

Lily.

I wanna be Lily when I grow up.   Rain out. State Fair Day. I don’t mean showers . . . I mean, no chance, not even entertaining the thought, rainout. So, while we’re all inside throwing our little pity party, Lily grabs my umbrella . . .digs out her coolest Stevie Nicks . ....
